Tips on Making Money Online

By : Internet Marketing Tips

The world now is a great place to be if you're looking for a way to make money online. The Internet is filled with a great many ways for you to earn some cash. All you need to do is be resourceful and be prepared to roll up your sleeves a little. For instance, you can earn money by posting on forums; for each post that you make, you earn commissions. You can also earn money by posting on a blog: you can earn money directly by being paid for each post, or indirectly, through advertisements on your blog. And of course, you can sell products and services online.

Selling products and services can be fulfilling but difficult. Unlike a brick-and-mortar store, where you can interact with your customers and show them actual products, an Internet store will limit you to a few kilobytes of space for pictures and text. You need to make the most of this space, and you can't go beyond a few kilobytes, or people with slow Internet connections will never get to view your website. That said, you may need to put up a website for your online store, and you will need to ask for help regarding security and website content. Aside from that, here are a few more tips on how you can get started with making money online.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Sure, you will earn a lot of money from selling products and services, but that shouldn't stop you from blogging, or putting ads on your website so that people can click on them and give you commissions. In fact, that shouldn't stop you from posting on forums, earning money through other means, and keeping your day job! You need money, but you don't need to have it all from one place, especially if you're just starting out.

Update your website content constantly. Whenever your visitors arrive at your website, they expect just to see photos of your products or services, along with a description and prices. What they don't expect is for you to help them out with their lives and offer them some entertaining and informative content. So why not surprise them? Have articles each month on something related to your products and services. For instance, if you are selling pet foods, have articles on how to take care of your pets, how to choose a pet groomer, how to ask a veterinarian important questions, or even how to decorate your fish tank on a budget. Such articles will help your customers and website visitors, and you can certainly expect them to keep on coming back, bringing their friends along with them.

Don't be afraid to ask for client feedback. You need to constantly make your product and service line better, and you need to have new products and services from time to time. Ask your customers for suggestions, and if you come across good ones, reward your customers with incentives like, discounts on their purchases at your website, or free stuff bearing your company name or logo. That way, whenever they carry that umbrella or bag or pen around, they are acting as your own personal advertising billboards!

Don't keep yourself online. This is especially true for advertising: try brick-and-mortar companies and approach them with solicitation letters. Allow them to advertise on your website for a fee. Sponsor conferences or symposia, or get-togethers, or even speed dating! Get your name out in the brick-and-mortar world. Remember, not everyone spends their entire working day online, so why should you confine yourself there?

Make your website secure and pretty. There are hackers out there who are after information that should be secure and confidential. Ask your web designer or developer to keep your website secure, especially for future purchases. Moreover, have a simple, well-designed website that is easy on the eyes and easy to navigate. This will help your clients go through your website more easily and appreciate your efforts to keep them relaxed and satisfied with their surfing habits.

These are only a few tips that you may want to follow when you are working online and trying to earn a living on the World Wide Web. As long as you are honest and love what you are doing and as long as you take the right steps toward success, you will not go wrong.

5 Reasons Why Most Internet Marketers Fail

By Titus Hoskins (c) 2009

When it comes to starting any endeavor, whether it be learning a new hobby or starting an online business, we all have to start at ground zero. We all have to start at the very beginning from the very same place. Granted, we each bring different skills and backgrounds into the mix, but for the most part we are all on equal footing at the starting line.

If this is the case, then we really have to ponder why is it only a choice few go on to succeed, while most people don't. Just what are the reasons why most online marketers fail? This is the core question that has to be answered if you want to fully understand Internet marketing and how it works.

What are these basic reasons?

Improve Your Monthly Google AdSense Payment!

What are the causes or stumbling blocks that hold many marketers and webmasters from reaching their full online potential? If we know these factors, we can learn how to avoid them and even overcome them in our own online marketing. These reasons can be a solid reference point or even a source of inspiration for any online marketer just starting out.

Speaking from the viewpoint of someone who has started from the very beginning with little to no knowledge of computers or even marketing for that matter, I can honestly relate to the beginning marketer. I even had to learn HTML from scratch in order to construct my own webpages. Probably my only advantage, I did have a background in art but designing webpages was completely different from anything I had done previously to starting in online marketíng.

But from my own experiences I have drawn some general conclusions about Internet marketing and why some people succeed while most people fail. So here in my honest opinion, are some of the main reasons why many online marketers fail:

1. Overwhelmed With Information

Perhaps, one of the biggest obstacles I faced when I first started my website - I was bombarded with so much information on how to proceed I didn't have a clue which direction to take or who to believe. Thousands of different info products telling you to do this, not to do that... so much marketing information to absorb that you end up scratching your head and looking like someone auditioning for a zombie movie.

Completely overwhelmed with so much information, many marketers or webmasters enter a state of paralysis where nothing gets done. You go from one course to another or from one method to another, without any real understanding of how to proceed or how to get a detailed blueprint to follow.

Information overflow can effectively crush all that novice enthusiasm and literally kill even the most eager of entrepreneurs. Anyone starting out must be aware of this obvious but insidious pitfall you have to avoid at all costs. One of the best remedies, simply try concentrating on just one or two marketing plans/marketers for all your information. Try to eliminate the clutter by just working on one marketing system. Just have a few key marketing resources you go to for information, not a hundred! And do your homework, only pick marketers who can back up their claims with observable results on the web. One obvious checkmark - just see if those marketers have top rankings for their sites for popular profitable keywords associated with their sites or products.
2. Lack Of Key Marketing Basics

There are some key marketing basics or fundamentals you must learn about marketing online. Internet marketing has some key elements you must get right or you will have a difficult task in succeeding on the web. Just simple factors you must get right or it's game over before you even get started.

Most marketers fail to realize the web is "information driven" and you must supply quality information or content in order to truly succeed. You must provide a valuable service or function to your visitors. You must help solve their problem. You must give them a solid reason to use your site or product. Quality content is and always will be King on the web.

You must also understand much of the web is "keyword driven" and you must construct your webpages to take full advantage of these keywords. You must have at least a rudimentary understanding of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and how you can use it to get top rankings for your keyword phrases.

3. Lack Of Time And Resources

Another major reason why many marketers fail is because they simply can't afford the time to learn and build their online business. Most people just can't stop everything and work full time online because they have bills to pay and families to support. It may take months, probably years, before you can build up a successful online business that gives you a comfortable living. The average person just doesn't have the time or the resources to spend months learning how all this works.

Keep in mind, getting a business or website going is probably the most inexpensive way to start your business. Domains are cheap. Web hosting is cheap. Web design is cheap if you can do it yourself... Compared to starting a business in the "real" world, creating an online business will only cost a faction of the normal expenses connected with starting a business. But the main problem is having the resources to pay your living expenses until your online business is profitable. Many beginning online marketers don't have these resources and the main complaint from these marketers: "I Simply can't afford the time to work at this online stuff."
One solution is to work at your online marketíng in your spare time and gradually build up your business until you can afford to do it full time. It will obviously take longer but you can still get to the same end goal.

4. Lack Of Necessary Skills

Actually, you don't need many skills to succeed online. However, one of the major skills you must have or you must learn is communication. You must learn how to communicate. The web is all about communicating your points to your visitors or viewers so you must acquire good communication skills.

It really helps your marketing if you are a good writer because you can easily get your points across with written text or copy on your site. Writing skills can be learned but many beginning marketers don't fully understand how important their writing skills will be to their success. You must be able to communicate on your site, in your newsletters, with your customers... might sound a bit obvious but you would be surprised at how many marketers lack this simple, yet necessary skill.

But don't fret, because once upon a time, the written word was king online - but not any more. Videos are rapidly taking the place of the printed word so anyone with a camera can now be a success online. Of course, you still need good communication skills even using videos, but many marketers have found this is a much easier way to communicate information about their site or product.

5. Lack Of Persistence

For me, one the most significant reasons most online marketers/webmasters fail, is because of a lack of persistence. They simply give up too soon. They try something for a few weeks, even for a few months and then they conclude this is not working and they give up.

Building a solid online business or viable website takes time, a lot of time. Just because your business is online, doesn't mean everything will fall into place overnight, it takes time to establish a customer base. It takes time to build your business relationships with others in your field.

Sometimes, it may take years before you see some solid returns. It was three years before I saw any significant revenue coming from my online ventures, and another year before I could summon enough courage to do this online marketing full time. If I had given up and not persisted at this web stuff, I would not be writing this article right now.

Building top rankings for your keywords in the search engines (especially Google) can take months, even years before you see any results. The real key is to be persistent and keep at it, day after day, until you get those top rankings. You simply must be persistent or you will fail.

In conclusion, having said all that, you must also realize there are plenty of exceptions to all of the above. There have been countless success stories on the web where someone has come up with a novel idea or product and become successful overnight. The web can provide immediate success for some, but for most of us, it will take some time and hard effort on our part to build a successful online business. Just try to avoid many of the pitfalls or reasons listed above and you will have a better chance of placing yourself in the success column.

Advancing In Google Adwords

By: Jared Weidner

With all of the competition rising in Google Adwords, it is hard to set yourself apart from other companies. It is a fact that Google is the top search engine in the world and controls over 30% of searches throughout the entire Internet. With that in mind, this is your chance to become a very successful company. Understanding the advanced tools of Google Adwords will create less time researching and more time gaining profits.

The first step in advancing in Google Adwords is to always test your campaigns. This is an essential step that is missed by thousands of Google Advertisers. Checking each link in each campaign, making sure that each one is live and working. Too many times links will be misspelled, leading to zero sales. This can be done simply by searching your keyword in Google, clicking on your link, and testing out your URL landing page.

Next, for every campaign that you deliver, create several variations of that same campaign. Add question marks, different phrases, words, and quotes. Create different sub texts for each campaign and test out different landing pages. It is essential that you are giving your audience what they are looking for and you will see what campaign is working and which are not. After you have tested different variations, narrow the campaign down to one or two that have significant click through rates and sales. This will lead to more opt-ins and more sales.

Another step in advancing in Google Adwords is understanding your competitors. Always use keywordspy.com to your benefit and find keywords that are working for other companies. Research the different type of variations they are using, which keywords are triggering profits, and how much each keyword's cost per click is. Don't just copy their campaign word for word but instead create a similar and more effective campaign that will demolish your competitors. Again, test each keyword by searching for it in Google, focusing on where you are ranked for each keyword and how your campaign can be improved.

Last but not least, James Schramko's Double Digit CTR system is your number one source for Advancing in Google Adwords. His program will teach you how to find the correct keywords, how to create successful landing pages, and teach you the advanced tactics of advertising on Google. His step-by-step video guide and cheat sheet will have you moving quickly and effectively to boost your profits and return on investment. There is only one way to become a master at Google Adwords, and that is by learning from one.

Online Searches Related To Financial Turmoil Increases Significantly

By: Marvist.com

The online search behavior in US seems to have changed significantly due to economic downturn. The number of searches related to terms like ‘unemployment’ and ‘unemployment benefits’ showed a significant increase of over 200%, according to comScore. Searches with terms related to money saving like ‘coupons’ and ‘discounts’ also reported remarkable growth. The traffic to career development sites increased implausibly, according to a similar research conducted by Nielsen Online.

Change in online search behavior due to economic turmoil
There was a dramatic increase in usage of search terms related to economic downturn and unemployment during the past year. According to statistics given by comScore Inc, the most notable search terms were ‘unemployment’ with a 206% YOY increase to 8.2 million search queries, ‘unemployment benefits’ with a 247% increase to 748,000 searches, in December 2008, compared to the same month – a year earlier.

Search terms related to economic crisis, which showed prominent increase were ‘bankruptcy’ with a 156% increase to 2.6 million searches, ‘foreclosure’ with a 67% increase to 1.4 million searches, and ‘mortgage’ with a 72% increase to 7.76 million searches. There was a vivid increase in even search terms related to money saving. Search queries with term ‘coupons’ was up by 161% to 19.9 million.

Career development sites experience 20% increase in unique traffic
The rising unemployment rate and unstable economy improve traffic to career development websites. According to Nielsen Online, the number of unique visitors for career development sites increased to 49.7 millions in January 2009 from 41.5 million in January 2008. This is a significant 20% YOY increase.

The No.1 website in this category was ‘CareerBuilder.com’ network with 20.7 million unique visitors in January 2007-2008. Though this is just 6% growth from 19.6 million in January 2008, the growth in number of visitors is comparably much bigger. Other websites, which reported a significant growth, were ‘Simply Hired’ with 209% YOY growth and ‘USA Jobs’ with 104% YOY growth.

The reflection of impact of recession on online search behavior in US is evident from the remarkable growth in search queries related to terms like ‘unemployment’, ‘bankruptcy’, ‘coupons’, etc. It shows that people have become more concerned about economic crisis, money saving and deteriorating job market. The significant increase in traffic of career development sites also proves the American online searchers have become more alarmed about their career amid the season of layoffs.

How To Choose A Ppc Advertising Company

By: WinsonYeung

Choosing a ppc advertising company will affect how straightforward it is to commence with ppc selling. PPC selling is pay-per-click selling. You pay a ppc advertising company a certain quantity of money everytime somebody clicks through to your web site from their ad. Paying for each click sounds like a very dear sort of selling campaign. But essentially, you can spend some USD a day if that is all you have.
That few money will purchase a set number of clicks.
Once that many have clicked the ad, then your ad stops running for that day. This capacity to manipulate costs makes it a good option for a beginning marketer. The ability publicize with such a little budget is glorious for a start-up.

It also makes it straightforward to try a ppc advertising company to work out if that kind of advertising works for you. Though Google Adwords is the most well liked ppc advertising company online, there are some to select between. Google Adwords has just a few disadvantages, so would be a reasonable choice for almost all of the folk. It isn't hard to start and authorizes marketers to start campaigns without much money. So if Google Adwords is so glorious, why would you look at any other company?
Because lots of the ads show up during Google's search engine results. And there are folks, believe it or not, using search engines except for Google. Another ppc company you may wish to look into is Yahoo! Search Selling. Yahoo! Search Selling is modeled in an analogous way to the Google plan, but uses the Yahoo! Search engine as a point or many adverts. Yahoo! Is a favored search engine, so this company may be a good way to reach another audience besides Google searchers.
Microsoft also has a pay-per-click program in place known as Microsoft Ad Center. Google, Yahoo and Microsoft are the top three pay-per click programs on the web. There are a number of other pay-per-click firms available, though . And because Google, Yahoo and Microsoft all run their programs on a bid-based model, you might get more clicks from another company if your keyword is a favored one. A heavily searched keyword is going to have many of us competing for it and will cost more than it might through a flat-fee based ppc advertising company.
That company will charge an outlined amount without letting people bid on the keyword. If you bid on a specific keyword like make cash online, then when anyone searches on that phrase, your ad would show up somewhere on the search results page. This may be a prime position for your ad, and is the explanation why you should be the high bidder for the keyword.
If your website's keywords are all unusual high competition keywords, then you may need to look beyond Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. You most likely will not get many clicks for your position due to the cost of the keyword. But a smaller ppc advertising company can potentially offer you more clicks for less money, and help you to get more folks to your internet site.

5 Tips For Building Up An Online Following

By: Ehud Furman

Communicating online is easy and generating a large contact network doesn’t have to be too difficult thanks to the convenient self promotion tools available. The internet presents more personal branding opportunities than you could possibly make use of, so here are some best practice ideas to help you build up an online following:

1). Be a Resource
One of the most important elements to generating a following is to be a helpful source of information. Interacting with your audience in a two way conversation is ideal for a healthy relationship. Rather than bombarding your audience with useless information and sales pitches, offer value in all your messages.

2). Be Active
Finding a balance between enough and too much interaction is just as important as the quality of your content. The power of social media is a great way to build up an online following, but abuse the power and you’ll soon lose contacts and attract negativity.
Understanding your reputation is an important aspect when it comes to online activity. Read more about the tools to manage your online reputation and use the tools to answer any questions directed to you and capitalise on every online opportunity – always listen to and respect your audience.

3). Spread Your Social Wings
Internet users are generally fickle, jumping between media and platforms with the changing of the times. You should always be aware of the new avenues available to reach your audience. Without increasing your web presence, there’s little hope in attracting new followers.

4). Online/Offline
Market yourself as a networking personality offline too. Depending on your industry, there are often many opportunities for you to interact with your audience in the real world. Keep your eyes open for seminars, Twitter ‘TweetUps’ and other real life rendezvous which are co-ordinated via social media channels.
Strengthen established bonds and extend your network. If nothing like this exists in your sector, why not host an event – even if it is purely social? Create a meeting agenda and discuss this possibility with your current audience.

5). Be Yourself
Interacting with others will mean you’ll attract new audience members naturally, but diplomacy will only get you so far. If ever you feel the need to disagree with the opinion of another online, it is okay to do so if you handle it in the right way – in fact, it can often help build up your online presence.

Brand yourself as an expert commentator, a facilitator and ambassador for your field of expertise.

The Importance Of Branding Yourself When Building Your Online Business

By: Greg De Tisi

Branding yourself is such an important thing to do when building your online business because this is what builds the trust between you and your downline/customers. For example when you go shopping you probably have brand loyalty towards some items. I bet you can think of a favourite tomato ketchup right? You always go back and purchase this item because you know it has the quality and trust you expect every time. This is no different from working online because people don't want to part with hard earned cold cash with some stranger who they don't even know.

Branding yourself can be achieved in many ways including writing articles like this. I am presenting to you some information of value i hope so that you will get some benefit from this and apply it to your own business. Having a photo will really help people get to know who you are and a contactable e-mail address will also show that you are real and willing to help out. You can also use videos on various social networking sites, these can be applied for free so you just need to give some value to the person watching your video.

Building good relationships is a key thing. You will notice that alot of the big guru marketers will give you a taster with maybe a free e-book and then follow with more products to sell you via e-mail. Once you start to recognise their name you will start to associate them with some form of trust and value. I would say that you don't need to start giving away stuff but just being honest and trustworthy in your current business will really help you. Be a person of integrity and do what you say you are going to do. You don't need to be an expert just be honest. Start to create a real web presence by writing small articles and create a blog where you can show your openness to talk and share. Branding yourself can be very easy and not cost much.

You can gain respect by just giving to others and asking for nothing in return. Here are some things you could create to get a name for yourself. Maybe a traffic based system or an e-book on a subject you know something about. You are probably passionate about something like maybe music so you could create a dvd or an e-book talking about playing a musical instrument. Finally ensure that what you advertise is something you believe in so that you are really passionate about it. Once you begin to help people you will attract to you others who will want to buy from you or join you in your team. Start branding yourself today and build momentum. I wish you the best and hope you attract endless customers or team members.

Marketing: Increase Website Traffic In A Down Economy

By: Bruce A Tucker

I have designed and developed a number of websites for friends, colleagues and other organizations. It was just within the past year or two that I have taken on the process of actually marketing the same websites that I helped build. After doing much research on the subject, and trying a variety of methods, this one technique I am about to share with you worked better than anything else and that includes paid advertising.

This method worked so well that my one friend tried it on his website and he went from literally zero hits to two thousand hits per day in forty-five days. His patience and hard work had paid off. He still uses it and the last time I spoke to him (about a week ago) he was around five thousand hits per day.

Before I go into the nuts and bolts of the technique I will say this. I don’t care how hard you use this marketing method, if you do not have a website that easy to navigate and pleasant to look at and visit, your web traffic will come to a screeching halt. Any visitors you do receive will leave faster then they arrived. So before you implement this strategy overhaul the website to make sure it is user friendly.

The web marketing technique I am talking about is called article marketing. If you have about forty-five minutes per day, and you can write an educational and informational piece of content that is related to your website’s business, you will excel with this proven method. Here is the best part, it is 100% free. The only thing it will cost you is some of your time.

Here is how it works. You write an educational and informational article that is related to your website that is no less than 500 words in length. You submit your article and a resource box (more on that in a moment) to free article directories on the web. These article directories then in turn display your article to its thousands of visitors to either read directly from their website or their readers can syndicate your article (i.e. make it go viral).

Step one of this process is to write your article. Your article should be no less than 500 words in length. It should educate the reader in something related to your web business. Let’s say you sell power tools. A good article would be, 5 great ways to clean your table saw, or something along the lines like that. This type of article specifically addresses a need of the reader.

The next step, step 2, of this process is to create your resource box. A resource box informs the reader as to who wrote the article and how the reader can get in touch with the writer. The resource box is very important because this is how you are going to get visitors to your website. A typical resource box reads, “John Jones is the owner of XYZ Power Tools. You can learn more about Mr. Jones or XYZ by visiting their website at {insert your web address here}”. As you can see this resource box tells the reader who wrote the article, their relation to power tools, and then gives the website in case the reader wants to contact the writer.

The third and final step to this process is submitting your article and resource box to article directories. Do a Google search on the words “article directory” and you will see plenty to choose from. You only need to select a few. They are free to join and the popular ones receive tens of thousands of hits per day.

Submit your article and resource box to the article directories you have chosen and you are done. Now simply go back to step 1 and do it again tomorrow, and keep doing it on a daily basis. Make it a part of your daily marketing routine for your web business.

If you wrote a good article and you have a website that is user friendly you will see a definitive increase in your website traffic within thirty days. If you write a really good article then your web traffic could explode, because there are visitors to article directories who are looking for content for their blogs and their own websites. If someone comes along that runs a blog related to routers and sees your article on how to clean them, they will post your article, resource box and all, onto their website. Your article has been syndicated. It is now receiving traffic from locations other than the article directories themselves and that is web traffic you just can’t buy anywhere else.

Didn’t I say it would be easy yet require dedication on your part? With this technique you are only limited by the amount of time and effort you put in. I recommend one article every day. More than one and it is overkill and you will burn yourself out. Less than one and you will be doing yourself a disservice.

Link Building - The Fundamentals

Link Building is considered by many experts to be the most important aspect of Search Engine Optimization today. Link building is simply the practice of getting other websites to link to yours. A link, also known as text links, backlinks, and hyper links, is simply a clickable line of text (or image) on a web page that, when clicked, will bring the “clicker” to another website. The link building task can be accomplished in a variety of ways, which we will discuss. But first, let’s talk about why link building is so important.
Search Engine Submission
Why Build Links?

Years ago, the search engines would primarily rank a web page based on the keywords used in its meta tags and throughout the content of the page itself. Initially, this seemed to work fine. However, it didn’t take long before this started to become a problem. Because it was such an easy task for the webmaster, many started “stuffing” their meta tags and page content with their primary keywords to falsely inflate their natural search engines rankings for the given keywords. The search engines responded to this tactic by greatly reducing the importance of a website's meta tags, etc. and decided to focus more on the popularity of a website instead.

Today, all major search engines take into account the number and quality of backlinks a website has in place. Each link is viewed by the search engines as a “vote” for the website. The more “votes” a website has, the more popular the search engines are going to see the website as being and the better they will rank the website accordingly. Therefore, link building is one of the most important tasks you can undertake to promote your website within the search engines.
Types of Links

There are primarily two types of links today: one-way links and reciprocal links When web sites link to each other, either directly or indirectly through a number of different pages, a search engine might consider those links to be reciprocal links. This simply means you link to me and I’ll link to you. The problem with this type of linking is that the search engines do not see these links as being genuine so they do not put as much weight on these type of link when determining the site’s rankings.

One way links are simply links from web page that point to another and are not reciprocated back. Search engines see these links as being much more valuable than reciprocal links.
Search Engine Submission
How to Build Links

There are a variety of effective link building tactics today which include directory submissions, article submissions, social bookmarking, press release distribution and more. All of these tactics build targeted, one-way links for a website. The biggest drawback with link building is that it can be a very extensive, time-consuming task to perform. Many webmasters and/or business owners simply do not have the time or the endurance to carry out a genuine link building campaign. This is why many decide to outsource this task to a reputable SEO or link building firm.

There are many link building companies out there that promise you the world and simply do not deliver. If you decide to outsource your link building campaign to a third party, be sure to do the research up front to make sure you are dealing with a reputable company that has a proven track record.

Using Social Media to Boost Search Engine Results

By Lauren Hobson (c) 2009

Most of us are well aware that the search engines frequently change their algorithms to improve search results for users (and foil spammers), which can make it challenging for small businesses just to keep up. But as web technology continues to evolve, it also creates new opportunities for small businesses to improve their SEO strategies and boost their rankings as well. Social media (sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Technorati, Digg, etc.) provide an excellent opportuníty for small businesses to not only promote their products and services online, but also to gain significant ground in the search engine results.

One of the most critical components to getting top search engine rankings is the number of inbound links and link popularity a web site is able to build. Although there are several existing link building strategies available to small businesses (e.g., press releases, directory submissions, article syndication, etc.), social media can help create additional high-value, on-target inbound links that are essential to achieving top placements in the search engines.

Improve Your Monthly Google AdSense Payment!

For example, each time you use Twitter to publish a link to new content on your web site, that link gets "planted" on the Twitter page of each person following you, and has the potential to spread even further as your followers share that information with their own network of contacts.

Integrated Social Marketing (ISM)TM

If you have properly integrated your social networking profiles together, that same Twitter "tweet" could then be fed via RSS to your Facebook business profile, your corporate blog, your LinkedIn account, and any number of other social sites that you have set up for your business. It's not a far stretch to imagine the link you broadcast on Twitter could reach dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of other places on the web, all pointing back to your web site! By integrating your social networking profiles with each other, with your web site, and with your existing marketing initiatives, you can easily make one single marketing action (such as a tweet) show up in multiple places online, each containing a new, relevant inbound link to your site.

Quantity AND Quality

In addition to the sheer number of inbound links that are created through social marketing, the value of the links that are created is another important criterion that search engines consider. To be valued by the search engines, inbound links must be from relevant, "quality" web sites, and search engines today give social sites like Facebook and Twitter great value. These sites are highly visible to the search engines, and are constantly taking updates from users. Links tend to be shared according to subject matter, which means the search engines will see them as being relevant and on-target. All of these factors combine to create high-quality inbound links in the eyes of the search engines.
LookSmart - Going the Extra Mile for Website Monetization!

Online Visibility and Branding

Creating visibility for your business and your "brand" is really key when using social media for building links. The power of social media is realized when other users see your links or content, then share that information with their own network of contacts. Simply adding a bunch of links to your social profiles is not enough; you need to have a strong reputation and a brand that users trust so they will feel comfortable sharing your content with others. Brand recognition typically leads to natural link building anyway, which means your inbound links will end up coming from bloggers, colleagues, customers, and other people who are exposed to your links and find them useful enough to share with their own contacts.
Get Top 10 Rankings on Google!

The Proof is in the Rankings

A recent example from Website Magazine explained somewhat surprising results when they searched for their publication's name in Google. As expected, their web site came up as the number one listing on the results page. But what was not expected was the number three listing on the results page was the magazine's Twitter page. They then performed a number of Google searches for the terms "Chicago Tribune," "Chicago Public Golf," and "Daily Career Tips," all with similar results in Google - the Twitter page for each of these terms came up near the top of the search engine results every time.

The conclusion was that given these results, Google must be giving serious weight to Twitter content, and I happen to agree. The search engines of course keep their ranking algorithms top-secret, so there's no way to know how much weight (if any) is really given to Twitter or other social media sites. But results like those in the example above are hard to ignore!

A Great Opportunity

Social media is here to stay, and small businesses are beginning to use it to effectively promote their businesses, reach their customers, find new leads, keep customer mindshare, and instantly communicate with customers. But maybe one of the biggest benefits of adding social media to your marketing mix is the creation of high-value, on-target inbound links that can help improve visibility in the search engines and boost your business to the top of the search engine rankings.

Posting Videos on YouTube to Get Traffic For a Website: How to Do it Effectively

By Cliff Posey Jr

One of the most effective ways to get more traffic to your site is by posting videos on YouTube. YouTube is a popular social media site that internet users flock to everyday in order to watch different videos of their choice. You make use of this site to make your own web page popular as well, if you know the right techniques.

According to Yahoo Answers, here are some of the effective steps you can use when posting videos on YouTube:

First, try to make a high-quality and informative video. This is what counts the most. Your videos should contain substantial information that addresses the issues your target audiences are concerned about. Once your audiences have found your videos on YouTube, they will then go to your site to check out more of what you can offer. If you are asking how to increase website traffic using legitimate techniques, then this is the way to go.

Second, you must use the right keywords in describing your video. The keywords may act as tags so users who would do a search using those phrases can track down your video. This helps a lot especially when you want to make your video popular on YouTube. The keywords also work to organize your videos under the right categories, otherwise your entries not be easily found. By using the proper keywords, you get to practice link building strategies as well.

The next step in promoting your videos and how to increase website traffic is by spreading your videos in various blogs and social media sites. YouTube plays a big role in this step, as you need the embed code in order to plug your video on other sites. You can use this code to post your videos as comments and responses in forums, chats, other blogs, and feature them in other social media sites as well. If you have valuable insights to share especially when people ask questions, you can also refer them to your videos, just like what some people do at Yahoo Answers.

Aside from posting the videos and using their embed codes to post in other social media sites, you can also make use of the links provided by YouTube once your video is uploaded to the site. You can use this URL for link building techniques, as one of your tasks is to recommend the video to your audiences. This link comes in very handy especially when you submit articles to submission sites which do not allow videos to be played, only redirect URLs.

Finally, Yahoo Answers recommends that you add more videos to YouTube from time to time, especially when you want to promote your site. By adding new videos you inform both audiences and search engines that you have new, fresh content on your site, which they always love. Hence, if you have asked how to increase website traffic, this is a good way as well as being able to perform link building techniques with other sites under your niche.

Bagaimana Membangun Kredibilitas Bisnis di Internet

By :Joko Susilo

1. Miliki Blog Berdomain Nama Anda. Kalau anda berniat berbisnis di internet, tentu situs web wajib anda punya. Namun hanya punya situs web saja sekarang tak lagi cukup.

Tapi kalau tak dirintis sekarang, kapan lagi mulai ACTION?

Bagaimana menurut anda? Punya pendapat lain atau mau menambahkan?

How Google's latest algorithm changes affect your website

By : Axandra

Google improves its ranking algorithm on an ongoing basis. During the last weeks, Google changed three things on the result pages that are visible to all Google users.

The changes are an improvement for searchers but they might be bad for your website.

1. Google has increased the snippet length. Less visitors for you?

Google now shows an extended snippet for queries that consist of three or more keywords. The idea behind this change is that these multi-word queries are very targeted and complex. The usual short snippet might not contain enough information.

What does this change mean for your website?

The longer snippet contains much more information. As Google tries to provide the user with the most relevant information in the snippet, the snippet might already contain the answer to the user's query. The longer snippets might result in the following:

* Fewer users might click through to your website because they get the answer to their question in the search results.

* Users might begin to use more multiple-word queries to get more detailed search result snippets.

* As the longer snippets need more space, the longer snippets move another result page below the fold and web surfers will see fewer results at first glance. That increases the importance of very high rankings.

It seems that Google ignores the meta description tag for the snippets. That means that you must include a call to action in your web page titles.

2. Google now shows more related searches at the bottom of the results

When you search for a keyword, Google will display related searches at the bottom (and sometimes at the top) of the search results.

For example, if you search for the keyword "principles of physics", Google will suggest "angular momentum," "special relativity," "big bang" and "quantum mechanic" as related terms that could help you find what you need.

What does this change mean for your website?

It's important that you optimize the different pages of your website for different keywords. Do not concentrate on a single keyword but cover a wide range of keywords so that Googly will classify your website as relevant to the complete topic.

The more related keywords and pages can be found on your website, the better.

3. Google now shows local results based on IP addresses

Search Google for the keyword "pizza" and you'll see local results in the middle of the search results. These local results are delivered based on the IP address of the searcher. That means that you will get different results than people in another city.

What does this change mean for your website?

It's now easier to rank for competitive keywords for some local searches. While it's very difficult to get a high ranking for a very competitive keyword such as "lawyer" in the regular results, it's much easier to be listed for that keyword in the local results if you're living in a small town.

You should submit your website to Google Maps so that web surfers can find you in these local searches. You can submit your website to Google Maps with IBP's semi-automatic directory submitter.

If you run a local business, you should include your business name, your category and the name of your city in the title tag of your homepage.

If you want to get on top of Google's search results then your website must have optimized content and good inbound links. If you give Google what it wants then your website will get the best possible rankings.

How To Use YouTube To Increase Traffic To Your Website

By Richard Adams in Video Marketing

After Google, YouTube is now apparently the most-used search engine in the world. YouTube now allegedly sees more searches than either Yahoo or MSN. I think that’s amazing. And I also think it is an amazing opportunity for those of us who want to increase traffic to our websites.

But does YouTube really represent a realistic option for increasing traffic to your site? Last year I set out to test this very theory because, frankly, I was a little cynical. My own suspicions were that most of these searches were from teenage kids looking for clips of their favourite bands or stupid stunts and I doubted that YouTube could be effectively harnessed for the sake of marketers.

So I created a small number of short (2-5 minute) videos on a topic related to one of my websites and published them to see what happened.

And I must say that the results truly impressed me. People were finding my videos either in YouTube itself - or on Google which tends to rank videos highly - and then watching my videos. Over a few months, thousands of people watched them and a decent number then clicked on the link pointing to my site.

As a result I saw a marked increase in my traffic as a result of this experiment and it really turned me on to the possibilities.

So how difficult is it to harness the power of YouTube? Honestly, the answer is not very, and I’d to tell you exactly how I did it in the hope that you too can benefit from the power of online video.

Making The Video

Nothing flashy is need to make a video to market your website. Personally I used a cheap digital camera and just basically spoke into the lens. For YouTube ensure your videos don’t go over 10 minutes in total length. Personally I pretty much read some of my more popular articles and tips so I was able to reuse much of my existing content rather than having to create plenty of new content.

I literally took an article that was generating traffic and then read it to camera.

Upload The Video

Sign up for a free YouTube account if you haven’t already and you will find how easy it is to upload the video. All you need to do is to locate it on your computer and press the upload button.

Once the video is uploaded the final step is to name it correctly. As you are basically reusing the content of an existing article, use the article title as the title for your video and include a link back to your website in the description.

That really is pretty much all there is too it. I recommend doing a number of these videos as they can be a little hit and miss and the more you have out there the greater the difference will be to your traffic levels.

One final tip is to enable comments on your videos in your YouTube account as I have found a surprising number of people are keen to ask questions about the videos I have uploaded and this can also be a good way to lure people back to my site by explaining that the answer to their questions is at this page or that page on my site.

Add Video To Your Web Site: The Number 1 Reason

By Michael A Jones in Video Marketing

Why add video to your web site? To make more money! That’s of course assuming your web site is there to promote your products and services. How can adding video to your web site make you more money? Consider these facts about the way the brain works.

In the 1970’s groundbreaking research was done resulting in a much greater understanding of how the brain functions. The work of a Bulgarian scientist called Georgi Lozanov in the 1960’s laid the foundation for what the West would later call accelerated learning. Various dominant learning modalities were categorized which included audial, visual, and kinesthetic. Although our brains absorb information from all our senses, it was discovered that every individual has a preferred learning modality. Identify it and you can learn must faster.

But now, here is a critical statistic. It was also discovered through many tests that a majority of people like to learn visually. They like to see things as they absorb information. Some studies even put the figure as high as 65% of the population who absorb and recall information best by seeing.

Now can you see where this fits in when we talk of why you should add video to your web site? Pictures can make a huge difference in the way your message comes across. You can state something but when you show a picture of it, well, the effect is immediate.

In the late 1870’s experiments were done with moving pictures. Using 24 cameras, an English photographer by the name of Eadweard Muybridge, photographed a horse in fast motion. The series of photographs settled a debate of the day as to whether all four hooves leave the ground when a horse is running. The resulting ‘movie’ proved conclusively that they do.

From those humble beginnings, motion pictures developed to what they are today. Who can argue that motion pictures have not had an incredibly substantial impact on the 20th and 21st centuries, not only in the arts, but also in technology and politics.

This presents an amazing opportunity for the modern day marketer. Add video to your web site and you capitalize on this highly successful modern medium to get your message across. A large number of people think in pictures. So if you have a video presentation highlighting aspects of your products and services, think of how your sales conversion rates can increase.

Also, when you add video to your web site, you keep visitors there longer. Isn’t that another key aim of any webmaster? Using a tool like Google Analytics, you can measure the average time spent on your web site or on your web page. The longer a visitor stays on your site the greater the chance they will take action, either by browsing further on your site, or clicking on the link that will lead to the action you want.

As an experiment, why not add a video to your web site on one page, and then make a copy of that page without the video. Then do a split test and track the visitor behavior over a period of days or weeks. You may be astonished at the results.

Here’s another idea. In addition to adding video to your web site, why not add video to your blog or ebay auction? You may see your sales or signups soar as a result.

So to boil it all down, why add video to your web site? To make money. Why keep spending out trying to get more traffic when you can increase the sales conversion ratio of the traffic you already receive. Make your web site ’sticky’ by adding video so your visitors will not just click away but engage and actually stay a while. The longer they stay the better for you.
Thankfully, now, adding video to your web site couldn’t be easier. It’s as simple as 1-2-3. Learn how by, you guessed it, watching a 3 minute video. Click here: Add Video To Your Web Site

What Can We Do About Spam?

By Jim Pretin in Security

I receive approximately 5,000 emails containing spam each and every day. Well, maybe not that many, but it sure seems like it. Spam is spiraling out of control and shows no signs of stopping. The question is, where does spam come from, and can you do anything about it?

Most of the spam I receive in my inbox is sexually explicit, but I still like to look at it because some of this junk is actually quite entertaining. My personal favorites are offers to purchase discounted Canadian Viagra, ads for pornographic websites, and bogus work-from-home programs.

How do these people get their grimy hands on your email address? One way they can get it is through opt-in email. When you order something online, as part of the subscription or service that you signed up for, you may have inadvertently agreed to receive offers via email from that company in the future.

As a result, said company adds you to their mailing list and begins to send you email. This is perfectly legal as long as the company provides you with a way to unsubscribe from their mailing list. If they do not provide you with a means to unsubscribe, then the emails they are sending you are considered spam.

To make matters worse, a spammer will sell your email address and any other information you submitted to them to hundreds or even thousands of other companies who are looking for leads. Before you know it, your email address has been circulated everywhere. Once this happens, there is almost no way to prevent spam from reaching your inbox.

Another common way your email address can end up on a mailing list is when an internet marketer purchases a list of email addresses from someone else, and then sends a joke or an interesting cartoon to everyone on that list and asks you to forward it along to all your friends and relatives.

Once you forward the message, the email has a program attached to it that will copy the list of addresses that the message has been forwarded to and send that list back to the person who originally sent you the email. So now, that person not only has your email address, but also has the email address of everyone you forwarded the message to.

Another popular technique is known as harvesting. This is accomplished by writing a simple retrieval program that searches through every web site listed on a search engine for a certain keyword, and then grabs any any email addresses that are posted on those sites, and subsequently sends them back to the harvester. Using this technology, it is possible to acquire thousands of email addresses in an hour or less.

Harvesting has become a legal dilemma. The email marketing community feels that they should be allowed to harvest email addresses that are posted on public websites. In their opinion, if someone has posted their email address for all to see, then other people have the right to contact that person and ask them questions or send them offers.

However, web sites where email addresses are posted have threatened legal action against anyone that harvests email addresses from their site and uses them to build spam lists. Unfortunately, these web sites really have no way to prevent this, and it will only get worse in the future.

We will never stop spam completely. Both big businesses and small businesses have a strong incentive to send bulk email, because it costs nothing, and is a valuable tool for increasing their customer base. Sending regular mail or hiring a telemarketer costs a lot of money and is extremely ineffective. As a result, most companies would prefer to send massive amounts of email. So, expect your inbox to be chock full of spam for many years to come.

3 Ways to Get Customers Talking About You

By Cindy Alvarez in Marketing

We’ve heard it countless times - Build an awesome product, and your customers will shout from the rooftops. Solve your customer’s big problems, and they’ll tell everyone. If you build it, they will evangelize.

Unfortunately, it’s not true. A very small percentage of the population is actively blogging and writing reviews. A slightly higher percentage may participate in ratings or sharing on social networks. The rest are passive consumers - reading and forming opinions silently and unlikely to influence other prospective customers.

You need to actively combat this pattern in 3 steps to get customers talking about you:

1. Understand what excites customers about you and how they naturally describe it
2. Offer suggestions for how customers can talk about you
3. Ask for customers to talk about you and guide them on how and where to do it

If steps #1 and #2 sound a bit like a chicken-and-egg problem, it’s because it is a chicken-and-egg problem. If no customers are talking about you, you don’t know what will resonate with them and you can’t know how to best encourage them to start talking. It may take a few rounds of asking questions and active listening to hone in on what’s exciting about your product.
Understand what excites customers about you and how they naturally describe it

For new products, you will need to start with non-customers (people who are not familiar with your product) and get them familiar enough so they can provide feedback. Then prompt them to tell the story of how they would use your product - “Well, I usually pay bills twice a month…” “So that’s when you would log in to the site, or…?” Questions like “what would you do next?” or “how do you think this would help you?” keep the conversation flowing.

You’ll want to run at least five of these interviews, but you probably won’t need more than a dozen to see the patterns in what users like and how they describe it. This isn’t quantitative information; you don’t need a big sample size. You aren’t interested in a 1-10 rating, you are interested in the story of your product, starring your customer. You want to capture the phrases and the cadence of their speech as much as the concepts.

Once you’ve gotten them comfortable talking, it’s time for the big question: If you were recommending this to a friend, what would you tell them to make them want to use it?

“What I love about this - well, this budgeting chart makes it so clear where my money is going. It makes me feel like I’m in control of my finances.”

“I don’t usually sign up for social apps, but this one didn’t spam me and it helped me get back in touch with a bunch of old college friends that I wouldn’t have found otherwise.”

Offer suggestions for how customers can talk about you

Look at the feedback you got from users and figure out which elements best overlap with the message your company wants to send. You’ll need to refine the phrases and stories customers use to get rid of “ums” or inappropriate language, but otherwise keep them as authentic as possible.
Post these stories on a “what people are saying about us” page. Put one next to the social sharing widget on your site. Twitter them. If you have a “invite a friend” or “refer a friend” page, put these stories in a drop-down menu so the user can choose which message to pass along.

What you don’t want is a customer who wants to talk about you, but doesn’t feel ready or motivated to write something that sounds smart. You want those customers to have words at the ready that don’t sound like a press release.

“Since I’ve been using this service, I have never lost a file. I probably save five hours of re-work per week.”

Think of a blogger staring at an empty white screen, trying to find a topic to write about. She just had a great experience with your product… but nothing’s coming to mind but “really useful” and “definitely worth the money”. Is she going to write a bland review, or choose to write about something else entirely? Think of the community site participant who would normally lurk - if it only takes a second to call to mind the right words, he’s much more likely to post a response.
Ask for customers to talk about you and guide them on how and where to do it

Finally, you can’t count on luck and customer affection - often, you have to ask for the mention. Be clear on what you want, where you want it, and a direct link to click or text to copy and paste and edit. MoveOn.org and other political action groups have mastered this - any time you’re asked to contact your representative, they helpfully provide you with text that is factually accurate and well-written. Whether you choose to keep it or provide your own is up to the individual.

Some examples:

* Kelly M. says “As soon as I signed up for the service, I got email alerts that saved me over $100!” Do you have a success story? Click here to share it on Facebook.
* We reached the 500th download mark, but we don’t have any user reviews yet. Have you used the auto-save function? Are you saving time with the export to blog post? Help us out by going to Software Site and writing a quick review. Let other users know!
* Since you’ve been using the service, you’ve lost ten pounds. Forward this email to a friend so they can congratulate you and sign up.

For any of these “asks”, the action needs to be obvious, no more than two clicks away, and you need to provide text but also the option to edit it or replace it entirely.

Most of these examples are targeted at consumer products and services, but they work just as well for enterprise customers. Even if you’ve had a relationship with a customer for years, try asking: “What do you find most valuable about us?” You may just be surprised - and the answer may help you win your next deal.

The power of image

By Bobby Buys in Marketing

Once upon a time kings and princes and other nobles in Europe relied on paintings to show them what their intended looked like before signing a marriage contract, spouse unseen.

Today, online shoppers rely on digital images to show them what an item looks like before committing to a purchase, merchandise unseen.

Over the years, the system has been perfected and it now works well most of the times. Consumer-to-consumer online trading platforms depend on it. However, buyers are not always happy with the images sellers post.

“Some sellers show only one view, with the result that you can’t really know what you are getting so you don’t buy”, says one buyer. “All pictures of products must be large and clear; I sometimes hesitate to buy if I can not see the product clearly”, says another.

When one has in mind that images are the single most important selling pitch that can be made online, it is surprising to find sellers who still post on small or fuzzy (or small and fuzzy) digital representations of their items. If the image is inferior to the item, the seller is in trouble, for the item will not sell (or will not sell well).

The seller is also in trouble if the picture is better than the item.

Let’s turn to history for some valuable lessons. Quite a few members of European nobility fell for the image of their intended only to be sorely disappointed later on. More often than not, the woman whose face they were to look at across the breakfast table for the rest of their lives was not nearly as pretty as her portrait suggested.

The non-happy-end story of Henry VIII and Anne of Cleves is the case in point. Having disposed of several wives (some of them by beheading), the unfortunate king found himself flung again into the match-making market. His eye settled on Anne of Cleves, largely thanks to Hans Holbein’s lovely portrait. Unlike some inferior painters who shamelessly flattered their models, retouching nature where necessary, Holbein actually painted Anne as she was. However, he chose to paint her from the unusual full frontal angle (portraiture usually favours the three-quarters view) in order to give less prominence to her - well - quite prominent nose.

The portrait pleased Henry VIII well enough. However, confronted with the real thing, he was so taken aback that he had the marriage annulled several months later. Being a sensible woman, Anne accepted the annulment and kept her head on her shoulders.

And if you as a seller want to keep your customers, do try to be painstakingly truthful when taking the snapshot. The photo has to be good and clear, but not retouched. All warts and blemishes must show. This is especially important for second-hand items. In those cases, the use of generic or stock photos is unacceptable.

Another point that the buyers raised regarding the images is the size of the item depicted. While Holbein managed to make Anne’s nose appear smaller without discrediting the truth, it has been noticed that some sellers will occasionally make their products appear bigger than they are. Jewellery and gemstones are the main “culprits” here. This is what one buyer suggests to online sellers: “When showing photos of, for example, rings, do upload images that depict them in relation to known items. Otherwise it can be a bit of a disappointment when the ring arrives and the band is as thin as a needle”.

Since every story worth its salt has more than one angle, it is only fair to mention that the contemporaries of Anne of Cleves regarded her as a sweet and reasonably attractive young lady. All except Henry, that is. In the same vein, it is possible for a buyer to be disappointed with a purchase not due to any shortcomings in the item or its representation, but because his or her expectations were too high - or simply different. There’s something for you to think about before getting angry at a seller if an item fails to live up to your expectations.

How To Use Pay-Per-Click (PPC) To Send Traffic Anywhere You Want!

By Riley West in Advertising

Do you think anybody is going to argue about the fact that Traffic (people coming to your web page) is the most important component of direct selling via the Internet?

When I first started in this business of Internet Marketing, I didn’t think of traffic. It was like when I came into this business I checked all my previous training at the door! And this from a guy who spent over 30 years creating traffic to retail stores.

Go figure. I guess I came to this form of selling with a totally open, and, in some cases, blank, mind.

But Traffic IS the most important thing. It doesn’t much matter how you get the traffic as long as it’s a form of traffic called “targeted traffic”.

And that is exactly what you get when you buy traffic from the PPC Search Engines.

You probably know this already, but it is a good idea to repeat it. And that is that selling something by means of the internet has an incredibly simple formula.

Here it is…Traffic + Conversion = Sales. That’s it. Expanded for effect it would be Targeted Traffic (people) + Conversion(people purchasing) = Sales (money).

So, first things first, get traffic to your offer. But not just any old traffic…we want it to be “targeted”. What that means is that the people coming are people who are likely to be interested in what you have to offer.

People can be “sorted” by the search terms they type in. Ingenious, isn’t it?

There are lots of ways to generate traffic but pay-per-click advertising is one of the fastest and one of the best for a couple of reasons that we’ll cover here.

Two of the most important reasons are that your visitors will be “targeted traffic” and you’ll only pay when they click and arrive at your offer!

Here’s how it works. Let’s say you have a web page with an offer on it selling free movie downloads. Automatically, one of your major keywords is “free movie downloads”.

So you go into your PPC area, and write an ad. They are little four line classified type ads and the last line of the ad is the URL you want them to go to.

Now, Google is the king of PPC and, since they are all about relevancy (the art of bringing up good search results when someone types in a keyword) Google wants relevancy for it’s sponsored ads, too. Hence the marriage of your ad and your chosen keywords.

You’d write an ad that looks like a four line classified ad with copy like this …

Free Movie Downloads/ Download Any Movie You Want Forever/ For A Small One Time Fee/ USAFreeMovieDownloads.com

You’d put the ad into an ad group with your chosen keywords at your chosen price (bid).

Let’s say you picked the keyword “free movie downloads” and agreed to pay (bid) $1 every time someone clicks on your ad and, subsequently went to your offer.

Warning: I inadvertently sent 1700 people (clicks) to a 404 error page instead of my offer due to a typo. It cost me about a thousand bucks. I don’t do that anymore.

So you turn the campaign on and start watching. The fun can begin in just a few minutes!

If you make $30 every time someone buys your offer at your web page, and you are paying one dollar per visit (click) when someone types in “free movie downloads” there is a certain ratio you are looking for.

Essentially, to be profitable, you have to pay LESS than $30 to get a sale because that’s what you MAKE on a sale. More ideally you want to pay $15 to get the $30 profit.

These little sponsored search ads are responsible for billions of dollars in highly targeted traffic and sales.

And really, doesn’t it just seem likely that someone who typed in your chosen keyword and clicked on your ad and was then transported to your offer on your web page would probably buy? Yes, it does to me, too.

You can bet on it. In fact, that’s exactly what you are doing, but they don’t call it gambling. They call it advertising. That’s business.

Optimize Your Landing Pages, Increase Your Sales

By Paul Marshall in Advertising

One of the newest and most talked about Internet marketing strategies these days is Landing Page Optimization. Your Landing Page Design can make or break your conversion rate.

All the search engine optimization (SEO) Internet marketing and pay-per-click (PPC) advertising isn’t going to create the sales you want with bad landing pages. You’d be just wasting your time and money.

And the truth is that almost EVERY page on your website is a landing page, except for your Privacy Policy, Terms of Use or Service, and possibly your About page.

I’ve seen websites more than DOUBLE their conversions with landing pages that are properly designed to convert traffic to conversions…those opt-in sign ups and direct sales.

Think about it — doubling your sales without increasing your PPC advertising or without increasing your SEO efforts! How much money could that put in your pocket?

When you take advantage of strategies like that, that’s when you start beating out your competition!

What’s Landing Page Optimization All About?

When searchers come to our websites from the search engines, they are in a path from one website to another.

We have to interrupt that process, drawing these searchers into our website and into our story.

We must balance the connection with our visitors and make an emotional connection, while offering them real substance, as well.

We MUST answer these questions:

1. where am I?
2. what can I do here (what is your offer)?
3. Why should I look here and STAY rather than click away? This MUST be answered in the top 4 to 4/12 inches of your Web pages (above the fold)

How Do You Begin Optimizing Your Landing Page Design?

First, start by clearly explaining what you want your website visitors to do and WHY they should do it.

Why should they buy from you or opt-in for future contact? What’s in it for them?

Why should they choose you over other websites they can visit? What separates you from your competition?

Essentially, what’s your Value Proposition?

You should be able to clearly explain the advantage to your website visitors in 2 to 3 short sentences.

Right now, if you’re not sure exactly how to describe your Value Proposition, you’re surely NOT alone! The great majority of people I coach with their websites are in the same boat, when they start out.

My suggestion: Start brainstorming and making good notes. It also helps to have the input of a Internet marketing consulting coach outside your business, who can help you clearly define and explain what you offer your website visitors in a compelling manner, without using your industry jargon and lingo.

Reduce Anxiety from Your Purchase and Opt-in Processes

Anxiety can also be defined as fear or concern. Now, you can never have a anxiety-free website, if you sell a product or service or if you seek an opt-in email address.

Anxiety occurs in opt-in sign up processes, when providing an email address. When making a purchase, providing credit card information causes anxiety.

But how can you REDUCE the anxiety to the least level possible?

There are many techniques you can follow to accomplish this.

One of the best examples is to post your Privacy Policy page link right next to your sign up button, for your opt-in contact. This helps reassure your visitors you aren’t selling their email address and will generate a higher opt-in conversion rate than not posting your privacy policy, all other things equal.

Other anxiety reducing techniques are:

1. emphasize credit card security when ordering
2. offer pricing guarantees
3. deal with product | service quality concerns with guarantees and third-party certifications, awards, etc.

These techniques must be used at the exact point where the anxiety occurs.

Next, Reducing Friction from Your Web Pages

Friction can also be defined as annoyance and irritation. To maximize your sales and opt-in conversion rate, you need to minimize the friction all across your website.

Friction occurs in the prospect’s MIND, not really on the page.

It is a Psychological resistance to a given element in the sales process.

So, how can you reduce friction?

One way is to limit fields to the minimum number needed for both purchase and opt-in forms. Friction = Length and Difficulty.

While space here limits a complete discussion of all the techniques you can take advantage of, another way to limit friction is to make your landing page design take advantage of natural eye movement, working with it, rather than against it. You’ve got to be careful with multi-column designs.

Wrapping it Up

Consider the value to you of an Internet marketing consulting coach, who can train you to maximize your landing page design, do-it-yourself and at an affordable cost.

Using Landing Page Optimization techniques will help you potentially DOUBLE your conversions…your direct sales and opt-in sign ups…without increasing your PPC advertising expenses and without requiring higher SEO rankings.

This is real money we’re talking about. :-)

This could turn out to be the KEY element missing from your Internet marketing plan.

SEO Guidelines

By Jeffrey Smith in SE Optimization

Search engine optimization also known by the acronym SEO is comprised of multiple facets. SEO is not a linear process, but rather a holistic evolution involving intricate layers, steps and cumulative stages which are equally as delicate as they are demanding to perfect.
However, there are fundamental SEO guidelines one can use to incorporate granular changes to improve coherence, functionality and visibility of a website by working in tandem with the metrics that search engines deem worthy and therefore reward with a higher relevance / optimization score.

On the contrary, if you deliberately or inadvertently neglect any one of the necessary characteristics of fine-tuning, then your pages could fall short of their goal which is to find the most suitable audience by way of reaching the most coveted top 10 spots for the contents primary keywords.

Rather than butchering coherence after the fact in an attempt to make a square peg fit in a round hole by editing content, links or the architecture of your website. It is better to start with the SEO goal in mind and building the platform to support it vs. just altering aspects of each after the fact.

With initiating any SEO campaign, you should give credence to:

Understanding your competition - There is a reason why the top 10 spots are occupied, take a look for consistencies so you can emulate certain characteristics if your website lacks them.

Determining the Gap - Determining the gap implies removing the obstacles between you and your objective. Time is the obvious ranking factor; hence, someone online for 5 years in a niche who has achieved keyword saturation and authority has an easier time maintaining visibility compared to a new website (who has not achieved a suitable reputation through peer review).

Before you just build links, your traffic and engagement for the site must be commensurate in order to get past algorithmic filters which can determine things like (1) link clusters from building links in automation (2) the ratio of inbound links to outbound links (3) engagement time / bounce rate factor (which are a metric of satisfaction and relevance) and (4) if there are other supporting topical areas within the site that concentrate internal links, subjects or landing pages to support a more competitive rankings.

Building Internal Authority - Authority is the objective; rankings are merely a side-effect (not the goal). With this in mind, it is more about acquiring a stake in market share that unmistakably positions your website in front of any search which corresponds to any of the terms, keywords or topics covered in your title, content or tags. The more authority a website has, the easier it is to rank for more keywords with less effort.

Gaining Validation from Citation and Peer Review - You can have the greatest website online, but without co-occurrence and other websites referencing your pages, it is merely conjecture. Granted, your website can eventually acquire authority in and of itself, but links from other related sites or websites already ranking for the keywords you are targeting are the fastest way to expedite the process of creating a site that is less dependent on external sources for validation and rankings.

Managing User Expectations - Since no two people think or search alike, you will need an array of landing pages to help direct them to the ultimate conversion objective. The wild card in this equation is the mood of the surfer. Landing pages are all about getting the right person in the right mindset to read the right message. If you can accomplish that with your SEO, there is virtually no limit to increasing user engagement (which is getting them to take the desired action).

Landing Pages are your websites means to an end, they are what keep you in business. With a landing page tailored to a specific array of keywords, the more relevance you can create between what a searcher expects and what a searcher discovers, the higher conversion rate your site will experience.

Landing Page Conversion - The first step in creating a successful online presence is having a page worthy of conversion. Conversion implying that it performs a specific function (sign up for a free download, sign up for a newsletter, subscribe to an RSS feed, purchase a produce, inquire about a service, etc.).

Instead of hemorrhaging user intent or overwhelming users with too many choices, the more refined and focused your value proposition is, the more likely it is that users will engage it. The key behind landing pages are (1) make it clear to the visitor what the VALUE IS TO THEM for engaging the offer, not just to your business and (2) if you have to go back and read anything twice or if a 4th grader cannot understand the offer, then it’s probably too complex.

SEO delivers traffic, but the strength of your offer is what determines if people shop at your website and proceed to checkout or if they move on and use your site like a doormat for the next search result, which is more honed to their mental map of what they consider a superb offer.

The tasks and responsibilities of an SEO company is simple (1) fill the gap with relevant content (2) salvage the existing elements that are conducive to optimization (3) build off page reputation from link building and promotion and most of all (4) fine tune the on page elements that aid conversion until a suitable conversion rate exists.

For those offering SEO services that offer anything less is just theory. The bottom line is, SEO is about results, not just temporal rankings. So, as long as you stick to fundamental guidelines that are not dependent on fickle appearances or tricks but rather real content and real substance, changes in algorithms are the least of your concern, it’s only a matter of producing enough content, links or popularity to cross the tipping point.

Keyword Strategies: Increase Your Keyword Rankings

By Titus Hoskins in SE Optimization

Keywords are ground zero. They are essential to your online success. You must get your keywords right or it’s game over before you even get started. Mainly because keywords are the most important element of your online marketing.

It can’t be emphasized enough, especially to beginning online webmasters or marketers, choosing the right profitable keywords will largely determine whether or not you succeed with your online endeavors. You simply must get this element right or your marketing will be in big trouble.

What Are Keywords?

Lets start at the very beginning, keywords are the exact words someone types into a search engine to find what they’re looking for on the web. Some keywords are valuable/profitable, while others are virtually worthless.

Profitable keywords are the ones that convert into a sale, a lead or potential client/customer for your company or product. These are the words someone is searching in order to buy a product or hire a service. Someone searching for “honeymoon vacation packages” is probably in the market to book a honeymoon vacation and could turn out to be very profitable for the right website or business.

Profitable keywords are the ones where the searcher is in the right “mind-set” or frame of mind to buy what they’re searching for on the web. Tailor your online marketing to target these profitable keywords and it can spell success.

So what’s the whole process for finding or choosing profitable keywords to use in your marketing? Lets look at some ways to proceed…

Number of Keyword Searches Made?

You need to find out how many searches are made for your chosen keywords each month. Simply use WordTracker or a site like SEOBook. These will give you a preliminary number of searches made each month for your keyword. Highly popular, well-searched keywords with hundreds of thousands of searches each month will be extremely hard to rank for because you will have stiff competition from major companies with limitless resources.

I like to pick less popular keywords that get only a couple of hundred of searches each day because my chances of getting on the first page greatly increases. But don’t get fixated on the number of searches, some keyword phrases that only get four or five searches daily, can still be very profitable.

For serious keyword research in a particular niche market I like to use Brad Callen’s Keyword Elite which is professionally designed software that makes all your keyword research so much easier. But there are plenty of free keyword tools you can use. One handy keyword tool is Google Adwords external suggestion tool which will help you find valuable keywords.

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Commercial Intent of Keywords?

But how do you know if a keyword is profitable? Well, one convenient tool is from MSN which helps you with “Detecting Online Commercial Intention” of keywords. Just type in a keyword and it will give you a percentage or probability your keyword query has commercial benefit or intent.

http://adlab.msn.com/Online-Commercial-Intention/Default.aspx

Conversion Rate of Keywords?

Once you have your chosen keywords in place, next you want to have a landing page that converts those keywords or traffic from those keywords into buyers or leads for your online business. This is another crucial element of your online marketing - you must have a landing page or content/site that converts into a sale or you obviously won’t make any revenue.

Keep in mind, if you’re into affiliate marketing, you main goal is not to sell but to “pre-sell” your products or services. One effective way I have found to do this is to give potential customers/clients valuable information they can use in making their final purchasing choice. Comparison sites do well, as do review sites, top ten sites… potential customers use the Internet and keywords to not only find products but more so, to find information on those products. Your goal should be to provide this valuable information to make their task a little bit easier for them and they will reward you with a sale.

What are Long-Tail Keywords?

Long-Tail keywords are simply that: long three or four word phrases that searchers use to find what they’re looking for on the web. Because they are highly specific, long-tail keywords have proven to have better conversion rates than general keywords. This is also just common sense, someone searching for a “2005 ford mustang convertible” may just be in the right mind-set to buy such a vehicle; as compared to someone searching for a more general keyword phrase such as “sports cars.”

Study your website traffic logs religiously to find long-tail keywords that turn into a sale. Target these long-tail keywords in your marketing. Even buy PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising in the three major search engines - Google Adwords, Yahoo! Marketing and MicroSoft AdCenter - for these valuable/profitable keywords.

And build higher rankings in organic search for these long-tail keyword phrases. It’s really not that difficult for long phrases, especially if they’re related to your site; many times you can reach the top spot in a matter of days, especially in Google.

How To Rank High For Your Chosen Profitable Keywords?

Of course, the million dollar question is: HOW do you rank in the top spot for your chosen keywords? I believe the key to ranking high in the search engines (especially Google) is to be persistent in building your rankings for your keywords. Take a long-term view or approach, sometimes it may take months, even years, to rank in the top Five for your highly competitive keywords.

The best strategy is to “stick to it” and keep building relevant links to your keyword landing page. Create related blogs with valuable content linking back to your keywords. Write keyword related articles and distribute them all over the web. Create Google Alerts for your keywords and them place comments/links in the newly formed pages on the web that Google is indexing.

Be pro-active, download the SEOQuake toolbar and find your main keyword competitors. Check out their links and then go out and get the same links. Write better higher quality content than your main competitors because Google always rewards great content. Plus, use the free http://www.Addthis.com button and let your visitors bookmark your great content in all the social bookmark sites and build your keyword links for you.

Do keyworded Press Releases with your embedded links and spread them all over the web. Get these Press Releases into Google news and other important places on the web. http://www.PRWeb.com is really a great place for your press releases since you can embed your keywords in your links.

If you can try to get your most important keywords in your domain name. Many SEO experts argue the merits of this but from my own experience and marketing - it is much easier to rank high for your keywords if you have them in the domain name. Again, it is just common sense, if you have your main keyword in the domain, this keyword is obviously telling the search engines this is what your site is all about. I have even bought domains and created sites specifically around certain keywords just to rank high.

Always remember, you have to be persistent, I have been fighting some keyword battles for over four or five years! For really profitable keywords, it can be a constant struggle to remain on the first page, but the trick is not to give up, just keep fighting away at your competitors. Persistence usually pays off in the end and those profitable keywords will have your links in the top spot. Make ranking high for those profitable keywords your number one marketing strategy. Concentrate all your marketing efforts towards getting plenty of quality traffic for those keywords and you will succeed online.
